The Rev. Jeffrey Dodge – Associate Rector
The Rev. Jeffrey Dodge brings a new breeze to Walnut Creek. Hailing from Nashville, TN, he made his way to the Bay Area by way of a 3 year stint in Boston, MA through the Episcopal Service Corps, doing college chaplaincy at Boston University.
Jeff is passionate about education. Having completed both an M.Div and an M.A. in Interreligious Studies on top of a B.A. in Philosophy, Jeff has a penchant for good academic scholarship. Having waited tables for 7 years, he also knows it doesn’t matter how many big words you know, you have to make it understandable. He is excited to work with all members of St. Paul’s, age 0 to 100+.
The Episcopal Church is its own best-kept secret, and it is in its interest to reclaim the evil E-word–evangelism–for its true meaning: sharing good news. In an increasingly polarized and fearful society, the precious gift of plurality and openness this church offers doesn’t make the press like it should. Jeff is excited to get this word out, especially for those who, like himself, have been hurt in the past by less open church.
He brings a passion for good communication (www.cmminstitute.net). The the guiding question for Jeff is: “How are we co-creating the Beloved Community together with God through our work as members of St. Paul’s?” This is the gift of open sacramental identity: what we do together makes us who we are.
