Music plays an important role in our worship at St. Paul’s.
St. Paul’s Parish Choir is the backbone of the music program, singing weekly at the 9:30 a.m. service September through mid-June. The choir welcomes anyone who enjoys singing (music reading not required) and can regularly attend Thursday evening 7:30 rehearsals and Sunday morning services. Highlights of the year include a service of Advent Lessons and Carols on the Sunday before Christmas, and other Feast Day celebrations. The choir sings a broad range of choral literature, from chant to gospel, including Dwight Stone’s arrangements, occasionally with brass, with the Spirit Band, and other accompaniment.
During the summer months the Summer ‘pick-up’ Choir sings for the 9:30 a.m. service. This group is open to anyone who would like to make a “joyful noise.” Starting in mid-June, we meet on Sunday mornings at 8:45 to rehearse an easy anthem for the service. This is a great opportunity to give it a try, low maintenance, no commitment.
The Children’s Choir has been on hiatus, and we look forward to your inquiries to start it up again. All children of elementary and middle school age are welcome to join us in song. Please let Dwight Stone or Deborah Webster know of your interest! (contact info below)
Instrumentalists also help out on special occasions during the year. If you play an instrument and would like to help “make a joyful noise unto the Lord” please contact the music director and let him know of your willingness. We have a fine St. Paul’s Festival Brass Ensemble with trumpets, French horns, and a euphonium.
