Lessons & Carols is one of the musical highlights of our church year and a beautiful way to celebrate Christmas at St. Paul’s. This tradition, dating back more than 100 years to King’s College, Cambridge, is a service that families with children ages 6+ will enjoy. All are welcome!
The Biblical lessons lead us through the story of the birth of Jesus starting at the prophecy promising the birth of a Messiah, the angel’s visitation to Mary, to the birth of Jesus, with homage to the shepherds, the angels and the Magi.
Our St. Paul’s Festival Choir is joined by oboe and our own St. Paul’s Festival Brass in offerings from classical to more contemporary anthems. Members of the choir and from our congregation also share their talents in solo and duet offerings with the choir.
The congregation joins the musicians in the singing of several of our favorite Christmas carols, as well as our traditional and beloved “O Holy Night” by Adolphe Adam. After the (approximate) 90-minute service, please join us for refreshments!
