Masters of Divinity, Church Divinity School of the Pacific, 2008
Bachelor Degree, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, 1999
Krista grew up in North Carolina where she learned the art of Southern expressions and “true” BBQ. She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a double degree in Biology and in Elementary Education. Upon graduation, Krista went on to serve in the Peace Corps in Bulgaria. In Bulgaria, she opened a school English library and learned the skill of including feta in every meal. After Peace Corps, Krista taught 4 and 5th grade at a public Montessori School in Raleigh, NC.
After 9/11, she began to discern a call to the Priesthood. She attended seminary at Church Divinity School of the Pacific where she met her husband, a bay area native, Tom Fregoso. Her first call as an Associate for Family Ministries was at St. Francis, Palos Verdes in the Diocese of Los Angeles. She also worked as Chaplain for U.C. Riverside. She moved back to the Bay Area in 2011 to become the Associate Rector at St. Johns Oakland. In August, 2018 she was called to be the eighth Rector of St. Paul’s Walnut Creek. Tom works as a youth minister at St. John’s Ross.
Krista and Tom love to cook, go camping, play board games, travel, run, and hike. Krista spends her free time doing sudoku or Ken Kens, going to the theater, working in the garden and crafting creations out of Make Magazine. Every summer Tom and Krista spend a week together as Summer Camp Chaplains at the Bishop’s Ranch.
